Space Planning

MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WILL BE RIGHT SCALE AND PROPORTION BEFORE YOU BUY

SPACE PLANNING

Space Planning is critical before you make any purchases.  Have you ever bought a sofa, expecting it to be perfect in your space, and get it delivered and it's too large and over powers the room, or too small and seems to be out of place.

Once we have designed a mood board, we create a floor plan detailing what goes where to make sure that scale and proportion are correct, BEFORE you invest in purchases

Sizing a Rug is Tricky...

Did you know that the wrong size rug can make your room like it's had a visit to Alice's Wonderland?

Here are a few rules for rugs:

  • For Living Rooms, the front legs of furniture (or all legs) should be touching the rug.  Leave 18-24 inches of bare floor around the edges for balance.
  • Bedrooms:  Extend the rugs beyond the sides and foot of the bed, so you feet land on the rug when getting up.
  • Small Spaces:  One large rug will make a room feel larger rather than several smaller rugs.
  • Entry Halls:  Add a rug as a focal point to create a warm, inviting entry.

Great Design Starts with a Plan

  • Creating an mood board first, with a space planning floor design, provides a detailed and compelling “visual” so you can see products within the space
  • Space Layout creates a cohesive “plan” for your space before spending on expensive items that don’t go with one another
  • Space Planning helps you avoid costly mistakes because a plan with a visual, sets the expectation of the room while showing items that may not fit the space
  • Space Planning shows you to scale what items will work best next to one another
